Final Strike Alpha Launches This Thursday
Today Austin based virtual reality studio, Ghost Machine, announced it's newest virtual-reality flight combat game, Final Strike, will be launching in Alpha this Thursday, May 7and is now available for pre-order on the Ghost Machine Final Strike page. The new game is described as an edge-of-your-seat F-16 jet fighter simulator that puts you against an airborne invasion of alien fighters. The game action, which can be seen on the companys website, is reminiscent of popular invasion films like Independence Day.
The game announcement of Final Strike promises to entertain players who have eagerly awaited news of the game release after recently being greenlit for inclusion on the Steam VR digital downloading service. The game alpha version of the game is playable with the DK2 Oculus Rift Development headset, which can be obtained through the Oculus VRwebsite . When asked CEO of Ghost Machine, Neal Nellans, was enthusiastic about the Alpha launch. "We're continually adapting our VR development as systems improve and players tastes become more attuned to the emerging VR landscape. Final Strike has become one of our most immersive experiences, and we're happy to finally be able to put it in players hands and get feedback from the VR community.", states Nellans. Steam is an internet-based digital distribution, digital rights management, multiplayer, and social networking platform developed by the Valve corporation. This March, Valve announced a virtual reality headset that would be developed in collaboration with HTC, called the HTC vive. In October 2013, it was estimated by screen digest that 75% of all games bought online for the PC are download through Steam. Located in the backlot of the Austin Studios production facility, Ghost Machine VR currently has eight virtual-reality games in production, including Zombie Taxi Apocolypse, which challenges players to complete a work day as a taxicab driver in an apocalyptic zombie-filled Manhattan.
