GHOST MACHINE LAUNCHES GREENLIGHT CAMPAIGN FOR NEW VR SHOOTER ENDLESS DEAD

Over the course of the past year indie developer Ghost Machine has been making good on its promise to develop virtual reality (VR) content. In late 2014 the developer released the Early Access version of its racing simulator MotorSport Revolution with support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). Work also continues on the developer’s flight-based experience, Final Sky, which was previously titled Final Burn. Now the studio has revealed yet another VR title currently in development, this time taking the form of a zombie shoot ’em up.

That title is Endless Dead, which is currently running a Steam Greenlight campaign. This is a top-down third-person shooter described by its developer as ‘half RPG, half Gauntlet clone’. Set in a small town, players must fight back against hordes of zombies while gathering loot and earning points. The title features permadeath, meaning players will have just one life with which they must try and survive for as long as possible. A total of 10 types of weapons will be available, which can be upgraded along with character skills and other gear.

Multiplayer will be a big part of Endless Dead, with co-op and survival modes on offer. The developer even plans to add a deathmatch option in which players will fight each other in arenas while also fending off AI zombies. In terms of VR support, full Oculus Rift integration is planned though Ghost Machine also mentions ‘other HMDs’, suggesting that the title could possibly arrive on Samsung’s Gear VR smartphone-based HMD or perhaps the Project Morpheus PlayStation 4 HMD at some point in the future.

Endless Dead‘s Steam Greenlight campaign hopes to raise enough positive votes to be approved for sale on Valve’s digital PC store. That said, it’s not yet clear just when the title might launch. VRFocus will continue to follow Endless Dead‘s progress, reporting back with any further updates on its development.
